A Social Regulation Perspective on Team Reflexivity: The Development of an Analytical Framework

Abstract Teams are nowadays seen as the cornerstones of organizations. Previous research has shown that team reflexivity is positively related to performance. Traditionally, conceptualized a process occurs during transition moments, ignoring reflexive moments teams’ action phases. Moreover, most studies used self-reported questionnaires and cross-sectional designs thus provided limited insights into how unfolds both phases teams. In this study, we adopt social regulation perspective develop an analytical framework study in flow work. The was conducted software development setting included 50 h video recordings different types meetings six professional self-managing teams (a total 33 members). Using concepts from theory developed student learning settings lens, with four components (knowledge co-construction regulation; activities; focus regulation, type interaction) applied. Outcomes show more than half their conversations, jointly engaged regulation-related activities, which concerned planning activities very low occurrence evaluation activities. Different patterns were found phase but zooming on interactions also showed high interrelatedness could assist future further interaction between they mutually relate
